Traditional crafts are an important part of Europe’s cultural heritage. They preserve knowledge, skills, creativity, and local identity. However, many craft professions are disappearing because fewer young people choose these careers.
CRAFTWISE helps preserve traditional crafts while preparing them for the future. The project combines traditional skills with digital technologies, entrepreneurship, and international cooperation. Its goal is to create new learning opportunities for young people and strengthen the European craft sector.
Preserve Traditional Craft Skills
CRAFTWISE promotes the transfer of knowledge from experienced craft professionals to young people through intergenerational learning. The project helps preserve traditional techniques while adapting them to current needs.
Develop an Innovative Apprenticeship Programme
The project will develop the Collaborative Apprenticeship Program (CAP), which combines:
- Traditional craft skills
- Contemporary design
- Digital technologies
- Business and entrepreneurship
The programme will be flexible and can be adapted to different craft professions across Europe.
Improve Skills for the Future
CRAFTWISE begins with the C-Skills Study, which identifies skills gaps and training needs in the craft sector. Based on this research, the project develops training that responds to real labour market demands.
Participants also strengthen their digital and entrepreneurial skills, learning about online promotion, digital tools, branding, e-commerce, and business development.
Support Young People and European Cooperation
CRAFTWISE helps young people discover career opportunities in the craft sector while working directly with experienced craft professionals. This exchange combines traditional knowledge with creativity, innovation, and digital skills.
The project also brings together organisations from Romania, Spain, Greece, Türkiye, and Belgium, creating a European network that promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
A Lasting Impact
CRAFTWISE is designed to create long-term results. Its apprenticeship model, training materials, and research findings will remain available after the project ends, helping organisations across Europe preserve traditional crafts and prepare them for the future.
