On 21–22 January 2026, the partners of the CRAFTWISE project gathered in Brașov, Romania, for the consortium’s Kick-off Meeting. This important meeting marked the official start of the project and provided an opportunity to establish a shared vision, define the working approach, and strengthen cooperation among all partner organisations.
The meeting was hosted by Innovation Education Lab (iEL) at its offices in Brașov and brought together representatives from all five partner organisations. During the two-day event, the consortium reviewed the project’s objectives, discussed the implementation of the work packages, clarified partner responsibilities, and agreed on the roadmap for the coming months.
The meeting also provided valuable time for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strategic planning. By aligning methodologies and communication procedures from the beginning, the partnership established a strong foundation for the successful implementation of CRAFTWISE and the achievement of its objectives.
CRAFTWISE aims to create an innovative apprenticeship model that connects young people with experienced crafts professionals, combining traditional craftsmanship with digital innovation and entrepreneurship to ensure the long-term sustainability of Europe’s craft sector.
Day One: Building a Shared Vision for the Project
The first day began with a welcome session and an overview of the project’s objectives, expected results, and performance indicators. This session established a common framework for the implementation of all project activities.
Throughout the day, the partners discussed the different work packages and their main activities. Special attention was given to the preparation of the C-Skills Study, which will identify key stakeholders, analyse the current needs of the craft sector, and assess existing skills gaps.
The consortium also reviewed the development of the Collaborative Apprenticeship Program (CAP), including the design of its training modules and the organisation of future online and face-to-face learning activities. In addition, the partners agreed on the project’s communication and dissemination strategy to ensure that CRAFTWISE reaches its target audiences across Europe.
The day concluded with a summary session focused on the next steps, confirming responsibilities, timelines, and the importance of close international cooperation throughout the project.

Day Two: Discovering Local Heritage and Strengthening the Partnership
The second day combined technical discussions with cultural activities, creating opportunities for team building and a deeper understanding of the local heritage.
The consortium visited the Brașov Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Urban Civilization, where participants explored Romania’s rich craft traditions and cultural heritage. The programme also included a practical craft workshop that reflected the core values of CRAFTWISE by highlighting the importance of traditional skills, creativity, and knowledge transfer.
These activities strengthened collaboration among partners while reinforcing the project’s mission to preserve and promote European craftsmanship through innovation and intergenerational learning.
